I have been watching events from the distance and saw a request from Philippa Coory for stories relating to EQC House and Land Damage Claims. She is creating an eBook of individual stories relating to people’s experiences with EQC. I believe this is an excellent way to capture what has transpired in Christchurch and I know many of your out there have well documented histories of events. This compilation of stories would be a powerful way to capture the failing of EQC and make for good material for analysis and ultimately help improve the EQC model. So I do hope you will participate. This is what Philippa wrote:
“EQC House AND Land Damage Claims. Either one or both…
Next Friday (June 30) is the last day for emailing me your EQC story to be included in the eBook that I am collating. Individual story submission by email is the only way that I am obtaining people’s stories. Please note: I am not copying information from Facebook posts, or media articles. I am only collating the stories that people send me directly by email.
So far I have received 5 stories and they are shocking, however I need to receive a lot more stories for the final eBook to have an impact so PLEASE DO NOT HOLD YOUR STORY BACK. This is by far the easiest and simplest way to capture the truth about how you were (or are still being) treated by representatives of the EQC, their associates, and others.
1. Stories can be sent in any format. If I cannot copy and paste your content, I will simply photograph and insert it.
2. You can choose for your story to have your name against it, or to be anonymous.
3. There is no limit to the volume of information you send. As long as it is relevant to your story it will be added into the eBook.
4. You can send photos or sketches/cartoons etc to accompany your story. This is optional/not compulsory.
Once completed, the eBook will be uploaded onto these same earthquake related Facebook Group sites so that members can download, and share and distribute it. This will occur during August 2017, at least 4 weeks before the New Zealand Elections.
When our stories are together, the real story will be obvious.
To give this initiative legs and to make it effective, I would like to receive and include at least 200 EQC stories.
Please email your story to me by Friday 30 June. (Send to: firstname.lastname@example.org)
ALL TOGETHER WE SURE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! ”
