Folks the time has come for another forum. The next event has been organised by Claimants4Claimants and is NOW Live. The forum will focus on the issues relating to EQC – what is not working with the interpretation of policy and the risk it places on the future values of homes in Canterbury – your home!        Many of these issues have much wider implications for the rest of the country too- we here in Canterbury are the trail blazers. Black-logo   Experienced lawyers Peter Woods of Anthony Harper and Dr Duncan Webb of Lane Neave will lead the discussion. In addition there will be a number of other expert speakers and information to help us all understand the complexity of issues and what it means for those of us who find ourselves ‘stuck’ with seemingly no way to make progress or feeling unable to move forward – for many of us this has become a long term issue. Come along and explore your issues with EQC.

Date and Forum to be announced

Three areas relating to EQC will be covered: Retaining Walls, Land issues and the standard to which your home is to be Repaired.

  • Issues around Land may cause land to be devalued with massive implications for the homeowner.  Dr Duncan Webb is closely involved with this issue – and is closely involved with the flooding issues. Issues relating to land and EQC will be covered.
  • The repair standard – the EQC Act reads as if the repair standard is a lesser standard than the standard promised in our insurance policy.  This has the potential of EQC standing in the way of your insurance policy entitlement – i.e. to as ‘as new’ standard. Details relating to this as well as the proposed class action will be covered by Peter Woods.
  • The application of indemnity models to retaining walls is very concerning.  In addition we are now well into a sum insured environment and not all policies will cover retaining walls.  This issues pertaining to retaining walls will be discussed in detail.

You can book online via eventbrite, the event is asking for donations to cover costs, all presenters volunteer their time.  Please pass on the details of this event to other interested parties. Copy the link and share!

See you there!
